Clive Davis and Charles Goldstuck talk about 360 Deals

15 August 2008 One Comment

I came across many artists during GMWA week and noticed something in common among aspiring artists: the 360 deal was a pretty foreign idea. Given the changes in the music industry environment, every artist and future industry executive should have some idea of how deals work.  As a result, next week I’m dedicating a lot of posts to the 360 deal to help explain what it is and give some different perspectives on how it should/can work.

To kick this off, I’ve pulled this interview from Billboard.com.  Industry executives Clive Davis (CEO, BMG Label Group) and Charles Goldstuck (President, BMG Label Group) talk about starting labels and give their perspectives on the 360-degree model.

Don’t forget to check back with us next week for more posts on 360 deals! Monday I’ll explain exactly what a 360 deal is and how they’ve come about.

Thanks for that. I’m going through an intensive marketing training now, and 360 deals—even mindset is the way to go.
